History Train

The “History Train” will bring history directly to communities this summer in a fully renovated rail car, carrying a new exhibit about St. Louis County’s rich history.  Brought to you by St. Louis County, the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, the St. Louis County Historical Society and its local affiliates, Canadian National Railway, SMDC, The Benedictines, Minnesota Power, and the Depot Foundation, this free exhibit will delight young and old.

Proctor - Grand opening

Train 10:00 – 5:00 each day 

June 22 – 25             

The Proctor site is off County Highway 11 and Ugstad Road at the CN rail yard in Proctor.   

 

Virginia - 4th of July

Train 10:00 – 5:00 each day                                                  

July 3 – 7            

The Virginia site is behind the Sawmill Saloon and Restaurant  at the CN yard, far west track.

 

Biwabik

Train 10:00 – 5:00 each day                                                  

July 13 – 16

The Biwabik site is located near the old Depot; turn off Main Street on 6th Avenue South. 

 

Laskin Energy - Hoyt Lakes Water Carnival           

Train 10:00 – 5:00 except Friday, which is 10 – 4                          

July 21 – 23                  

The History Train site is located at Laskin Energy Center at “Engine House Stub”, near Hoyt Lakes.

 

Hibbing - St. Louis County Fair           

Train 10:00 – 5:00 each day                                                  

August 2 - 6        

The train site is in downtown Hibbing, at 19th Street and 5th Avenue, near the Municipal Steam Plant.

 

Mountain Iron - Merritt Days                 

Train 10:00 – 5:00 each day                                               

August 10 – 13

The train site same as Virginia event: behind Sawmill Saloon and Restaurant at the CN yard, far west track)

 

Proctor - Hoghead Days                                 

Train 10:00 – 5:00 each day                                               

August 17 – 20

The History Train is located off County Highway 11 and Ugstad Road (Track entrance #6).
