Overview:

The Duluth Drug Court Program is a program for defendants with felony drug charges and drug problems. It gives individuals the opportunity to make their lives more manageable through the support and direction of a trained and experienced court and counseling team who understand addiction.

Vision:

Through effective court intervention, community and law enforcement outreach, counseling, case management and treatment linkages.

Mission:

The mission of the Duluth Drug Court is to unite judiciary, criminal justice entities, substance abuse treatment providers, and the community to:

• Increase public safety
• Reduce the illicit drug use of non-violent drug addicted offenders
• Restore participants to law abiding productivity
• Lessen the financial impact on society

The Duluth Drug Court:

• Gives the judge an active role in case plan development, treatment referrals and court sanctions;
• Relies on frequent drug screening (urinalysis) to promote the client's self-responsibility for becoming and remaining drug free;
• Offers a broad array of treatment referrals;
• Dismisses drug charges when the client successfully completes the Drug Court Program.
