The Environmental Services Department has extended the applications deadline for Recycling and Waste Reduction Grants until June 1, 2010.  Grants are available to local units of government within the North Service Area (see brochure for guidelines.)

Grants awarded to date include:

• City of Aurora - $3,700 for concrete recycling and reuse
• Balkan Twp/City of Chisholm - $11,542 for expansion of solid waste canister site and recycling services

Additional grants being processed include:

• City of Ely/City of Winton/Morse Township - $10,235 for new cardboard baler
• City of Eveleth - $3,181 for recycling dumpster purchase
• City of McKinley - $160 for illegal dump clean-up
