Where do our recyclables go?

Recycling is not only easy but it makes a difference in St. Louis County.
The good news:  Last year folks in St. Louis County recycled 40 tons of aluminum cans saving over 27.36 kilo-watt hours of electricity!
The bad news:  Last year, almost 20 times that weight in recyclable aluminum ended up in the landfill rather than being recycled. 
The good news:  Last year we recycled a total of 4,839 tons of cardboard, paper, and cans and bottles saving 14,517 cubic yards of landfill space.
The bad news:  Last year over two and a half times that much still ended up in the landfill!   Let's all recycle MORE!

  • Brush and branches
  • Computer monitors and televisions* 
  • Drained oil filters* 
  • Fluorescent tubes 
  • Mattresses*
  • Scrap metal 
  • Tires*   
  • Used motor oil 
  • Yard waste

Where can you bring problem materials?  

 

 

St. Louis County provides these recycling services within the Solid Waste Management Area.  Fees may apply for items generated outside the Solid Waste Management Area.
